ZAPPER 1 "ZAPPER IN NEVERWHERE" by Gary Acord
=========================================================================
Your name was Johnny Storm. You were sitting at your computer one day,
totally absorbed and hypnotized by its trance-inducing coruscations, when
suddenly, zap! --A ligntning bolt came crashing through the window and
surged through you and your computer. Blackness overwhelmed you for a few
moments that seemed endless. When your consciousness began to return, a
swirling light of meaningless gyrations gradually began to slow down
until something could be made of them. And, as things slowly cleared, you
found yourself somehow blended into the heart of the computer in a
landscape molded from transistors and chips, caught up, captured and
trapped in a world beyond the limits of human imagination, in another
dimension, another time and space, you would come to call the enchanted
land of Neverwhere -- a world wherein you will be called ZAPPER!
Enchanting though this place called Neverwhere may be, you find
yourself driven and compelled by one obsession. This feeling grows so
intense that it overwhelms your every thought. This drive, this yearning
to get out of this place and find some way to get back into the real
world of your loved ones and friends becomes your dominant impulse. Your
every action becomes more and more bent on getting out, on escaping,
on returning to life from whatever state this may be.
In your journeys you find yourself surrounded by strange beings,
paradoxical lifeforms called LIFERAS who were anticipating a messiah
named Zapper when you arrived. And they had built monuments bearing his
name. When they saw you, they thought you were their expected savior, and
this is how you came to be called ZAPPER.
When you first arrive, you search around, and somehow stumble into a
doorway that teleports you into another part of this world, where you
first encounter the Liferas. You find that when you bump into them they
usually will give you messages and teleport you to other places. When you
shoot them, they respond in different ways than they do when they are
bumped. They are being enslaved by evil, strong beings who also inhabit
the land of Neverwhere -- the dreaded Zargons.
The Liferas offer to help you return to Earth if you will help them
defeat the Zargons. You would like to help them with their plight, but your
concern to return to Earth may also be fulfilled by the Zargons, if you
can get the upper hand on them. And you begin to suspect that the Liferas
may be your true enemies who "zapped" or conjured you here to save them
from their plight.Above all, your allegiance is to yourself and the world
in which you were born and raised, and your solitary mission is to escape
this place and return to Earth.

HINTS , TIPS , CLUES , AND STRATEGY
==========================================================================
The object of the game is to escape this place called Neverwhere and get
back to the real world.
At the beginning of the game you should use your "F" key to lower your
position;then,using the left/right keys "Q" and "W" & the forward key "O",
direct yourself to go through the bottom of the "A" in the word "ZAPPER".
Inside you will encounter a rectangle which will teleport you to AREA TWO.
In AREA TWO you will encounter tall, skinny, pyramid-like structures
which are lifeforms. If you bump into one of these it will teleport you to
one of the many other areas in the game and will frequently give you
messages, clues, and various remarks. If you shoot them they will respond
differently and send you to different places than if you bump into them.
Also, doors and rectangles will sometimes teleport you.
Be sure to save your games frequently, especially when you make it to a
new area. Press "1" and a blank screen will come up. Type what you want to
call your saved game, (like "S1","S2",etc), and press enter.Another screen
will appear; press enter again, and the game is saved. To reload a saved
game, press "2" & type the name you chose.
The game is won when you stumble upon the hideout of the king of the
Zargons and he helps get you to a doorway leading into the real world if
you will keep his place secret.

I hope you enjoy the game.It has truly been a labor of love creating it,
with quite a bit of nerve-racking difficulties to overcome as the cranky
computer fought me every step of the way.
